OGDEN, Utah — A heartbreaking update has emerged from the Weber County community as a second child has succumbed to injuries sustained during a high-speed collision caused by two teenagers fleeing police.
The incident occurred Friday evening when Ogden officers located a stolen car near the 2800 block of Quincey Avenue. When police attempted a traffic stop, the two 14-year-old suspects reportedly rammed a patrol car and fled at high speed. Moments later, their vehicle broadsided an SUV carrying a family of eight—two adults and six children—at the intersection of 31st Street and Grant Avenue.
The Victims
The family has now confirmed the loss of two sons:

Izarel (11): Died shortly after being ejected from the vehicle during the impact.

Jaimito (7): Passed away on Sunday after battling critical injuries in the hospital.
In a statement shared via a GoFundMe page, the family expressed their “unimaginable pain, grief, and shock” as they navigate the loss of two children. While the parents and four other siblings (ranging in age from 2 to 14) are expected to survive, the emotional and physical toll remains immense.
Investigation and Status of Suspects
The two 14-year-olds in the stolen vehicle were also hospitalized, though their current conditions have not been released. Due to their status as minors, authorities have not yet published their names.
The Ogden Police Department, alongside the Weber-Morgan Homicide Task Force and crash reconstruction experts, are continuing to investigate the sequence of events. While no formal charges have been announced yet, the department issued a statement of mourning, calling the event “extraordinarily devastating.”
A memorial for the two brothers has been established by the community at the site of the crash to honor their memory.
