Six years after stepping away from Royal duties and setting down roots in California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are orchestrating their biggest pivot yet. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are officially establishing a new home base in Britain.

So, what exactly will Prince Archie (7) and Princess Lilibet (5) be doing across the pond? They aren’t just there for a vacation. The young royals are officially enrolled and expected to begin attending a British school this September.

However, this massive relocation comes with one strict, non-negotiable condition: Absolute Secrecy.

  • No Royal Estates: The Sussexes are completely bypassing the Crown’s portfolio. Instead of returning to their former home at Frogmore Cottage, they are establishing a strictly private, non-royal residence.

  • A Guarded Bubble: The exact location of this new home, along with the name of the British school Archie and Lilibet will attend, is being fiercely guarded from the press.

  • Three International Bases: They aren’t abandoning their West Coast life. The couple will retain their $14.65 million Montecito mansion and a vacation property in Portugal. Meghan will also continue running her lifestyle brand, As Ever, from these international bases.

The Catalyst Behind the Move

Insiders point to a highly private family reunion earlier this summer as the turning point. Harry and Meghan brought Archie and Lilibet to the U.K., privately reuniting with King Charles for the first time in over four years.

The family also spent significant time at Althorp House, the childhood home and final resting place of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. Rumors are now swirling that Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, may have quietly helped the Sussexes secure their new private sanctuary to keep them out of the royal spotlight.

King Charles was reportedly briefed on the relocation plans before the news leaked, and is welcoming the chance to spend more time with his grandchildren. However, the move has not signaled a reconciliation between Harry and Prince William.
