At 70 years old, Mrs. Turner made the difficult journey to her son’s house in the pouring rain, hoping he would help her buy food. Instead, he coldly handed her a bag of rice and sent her away. But when she got home and looked inside the bag, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
Her cupboards had been empty for days. Weak and hungry, she walked slowly with her cane to visit her only son, Daniel. He ran a successful hardware business and lived in a big, comfortable house.
When she arrived, her daughter-in-law greeted her with a distant look. Daniel soon came out, clearly annoyed.
“Mom, what do you need? I don’t have much time.”
“Son… I have no food left,” she said, her voice breaking. “Can you lend me some money? Just a little… I’ll repay you.”
Daniel frowned.
“I can’t give you money right now. Things are tight.”
He quickly grabbed a sack of rice and handed it to her.
“Take this. It’ll help for a few days.”
Without another word, he ushered her out into the rain and closed the gate.
Mrs. Turner walked home heartbroken, clutching the rice. She tried to convince herself that her son was just busy.
When she finally reached home, she opened the sack on the table, expecting nothing but rice.
What she saw inside left her in complete disbelief…
